Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to everyone!! We hope you all had a wonderful holiday! The past month has just flown by for us here getting ready for Christmas and working on remodeling the hall bathroom. We are staying busy and Wade does his part now that he's walking (running, really) everywhere and likes to explore EVERYTHING!

Craig gave me an AWESOME new DSLR camera for Christmas that we took some amazing pictures with...but in the meantime, here are some pics from our other digital camera that we took before I opened my gift :)

This is Craig and me at his company party:

Wade got a train table from Santa and really loves it. He found out it's really a lot of fun to climb inside the thing and chew on the cars and trucks! It's got a top on it, too, and so we've got it set up as a play table for him now and that's so much fun for him since he likes to flex his muscles and put things onto tables these days.

Daisy and Beamer got into the Christmas spirit too and wore their antlers for at least a few minutes. They were spoiled with lots of new toys and s
ome homemade treats in their stockings, so they had a great Christmas, too!

Wade has started shaking his finger "no, no" when we tell him not to do something - SO cute! I'm trying to upload a video from Christmas Eve that shows him doing that when we tell him not to play in the dog's water bowl :) He can't resist splashing in the water any chance he gets! I'm going to see if I can't get that posted later on this afternoon - or maybe take a shorter video so it will post!! :-)

Happy Birthday Wade!

Wade turned ONE on November 14th and we had a really fun party for him!! We had the best time and all the kids had a blast running around and playing with toys and getting to know each other :-) The caterpillar cake was a hit - and each kid got their own piece of caterpillar - and Wade dug right into the cake while we sang happy birthday. Thanks to everyone who made Wade's first birthday so special!!

Here's the day in pictures!

Teeth, talking, and more teeth!

Wade has SEVEN teeth now! 4 on the top and 3 on the bottom. He just cut the third bottom tooth over the weekend and we're waiting on more!

Wade also likes to talk all the time. He calls almost all dogs "Daisy" but sometimes will say "Boo" for Beamer. And when he sees us on the phone he likes to say "Hi" and will even say hi to the person on the phone when you put it to his ear! He definitely says Daddy and knows Bird, too - although he's only said that once or twice so far.

He's walking all over the place, too and getting more and more comfortable with it. He crawls very fast to something he can pull himself up on and then takes off walking. He loves it! And he is so cute doing the franken-baby walk :-)

Last week, Craig brought a lollipop home from the bank and Wade was a huge fan...he even picked one when we were out trick or treating since he loved it so much!! Check out all his teeth!!

Pumpkin Patch

Meghan and I took Wade to the pumpkin patch last night and he picked out a pumpkin!

My Dad is a Marathoner

After months of training, last weekend was the big one! Craig ran the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC on October 25, 2009. He did AWESOME! and finished in 3 hours, 51 minutes. We met up with the Braidwoods and with our friend Tara to watch the runners and cheer Craig on.

Wade was a trooper through the whole trip! We drove up Saturday and took Craig out for a birthday dinner that night. Wade loved the bread at Extra Virgin in Shirlington!!

Bright and early Sunday morning we headed out to the starting line. Wade's first experience on the metro was a little scary with all the strange people around him, but he felt better once he was safe in Daddy's arms and could hang on tight. We had shirts made that showed our support for Team Collins and Jamie, Danielle, Wade and I all wore them proudly and were even interviewed by Comcast SportsNet!

After wishing Craig luck at the start, we had a little breakfast and finished our coffees and headed into DC from Arlington. We walked across the bridge and headed for mile 10 to hopefully meet up with Craig to give him a drink. We were able to see him (yay!!) and I passed off his drink successfully! After that we met up with the Braidwoods and walked over to the mile 16 mark to catch Craig again. Wade was ready for a nap, but we had to see Daddy!!

Then we met up with Tara at the reflecting pool and got to catch up a little bit before walking back into Virginia to the finish line. Wade passed out in the stroller after some good play time and woke up in time to see his Daddy finishing strong up the hill to Iwo Jima. Craig didn't see us this time, but he sure heard us cheering for him and said it helped push him through to the finish!!

We finally found him after the race and gave lots of hugs and told him how proud we wer
e of him! Then, it was out for a pizza and some beer with Tara and Andrew before heading to get our car at the hotel.

Sunday night we stayed with Julie and Charley in Stafford and Wade g
ot to play with their two boys, Christian (almost 4) and Roman (14 months). They had a blast!!

Monday it was back on the road and we headed home - it was a GREAT weekend!

Catching up!

Since it's been almost a month since an update, here's what we've been up to!

Wade has been working on his walking a little more each day. He's taken up to 5 steps on his own, but still prefers to crawl since he can get there faster that way! He really moves!! He does like to practice by walking around the yard hanging on to our hands and has even gotten brave enough to hold on with only one hand sometimes, too. We love going to the park and swinging and seeing the favorite elephant and the ot
her kids, too. The other day Wade was fascinated with the big kids who were spray painting their bikes (yes, spray painting their own bikes!).

We also went to get Wade his first haircut. He got to sit in an airplane chair and play with some trains while getting his hair cut - and watch some Sesame Street! He loved it :-)

The climbing continues as well - Wade climbed to the top of t
he back of the couch the other night and thought it was the most fun! We took this picture then swooped back in to help him down (although he was perfectly happy to keep looking out the window to the backyard - the dogs must've been out there!!). Can you see how proud he is of himself to be up there??

Wade and Meghan also came to watch me run in a 10K in Sandbridge the first weekend in October. Craig was running a 5K the same morning and he placed third!! How exciting is that??

Here's our little pumpkin in a Halloween preview, too...

More teeth!

It's official! Wade has teeth #5 and 6. We fussed a bit yesterday, but they are finally through and he's back to his happy self today. We'll get a picture of his new toothy grin soon to post :-)

Last night, he also pointed to Beamer and said "doggy." He has been saying Daisy for a few weeks already and really recognizes her. It is so cute!

We're trying to keep him from feeding his food to the dogs at mealtime, too. He thinks it's great fun to hold out his fistful of whatever he's eating and let them take it right from him. It's really cute how he shares his meals with the dogs, but they are sure learning quickly to beg for it and are even bold enough to climb right up on his high chair tray to get it for themselves!! Crazy dogs ;-)

So Big!

Wade took a step and a half on his own yesterday! Wow - our boy is growing up so much!

He also played peek-a-boo with Craig and me yesterday all on his own. It was so cute! He hid his face behind a towel while I was folding laundry. He was having a great time and got such a kick out of himself :-)

AND, he has his 2 top teeth in and he's working on two more already. How different his smile will look in a few weeks!

more teeth

Well, looks like Wade's finally cut a top tooth! His left front top tooth is just peeking through and the right's not far behind...we'll try to get a picture up soon to show it off!

Thankful Thursday

  1. Sleeping through the night! Wade has been doing this all week and wow do we feel rested!
  2. Storytime at the library started! Meg and I took Wade for his first storytime and it was so much fun yesterday. He is really going to enjoy the time and is so fascinated with the other kids there. A little shy, but so interested in them all!!
  3. Fall is coming! The weather has been so nice and we've had fun going over to the park to swing and slide in the afternoons and evenings.
  4. Good friends!

Talking!

Guess who said Mama????

Wade's also been working on "Daisy" this week and is generally just chattering away like he's narrating his day. He said Mama last night while I was feeding him dinner and then again this morning a couple of times. Pretty much the best thing ever!! :)

Hi!

It's been a couple of weeks since I posted, so we're stopping in for an update and to say HI!

Wade has started waving hi and he likes to practice his wave with everyone and everything - the TV, the dogs, our neighbors, mama and daddy, his toys...It's super cute! He's tearing around the house in his walker, crawling like crazy, and cruising all the furniture he can.

New fun things have been the discovery of the tupperware and mixing bowl cabinet, opening and closing doors and cabinets, and more climbing on the dog crate - finally captured on film!! Wade's new face for the camera is a big, wide open mouth because he's always laughing :-)

Grilled Cheese

Wade had his first grilled cheese sandwich today - he liked it! He also likes pickles, so he had a lunch just like Mama and Aunt Meg today. What a big boy!

Wade's Pool Time

Wade loves when Aunt Meg takes him in his little pool on the deck. He likes to chew on his letters and numbers :-)

What's happening at our house today??

We're having some trees taken out. How many you ask? Oh, pretty much all of them!! The sycamores are a menace to our house and our allergies! How different the house will look when Craig gets home from work. Here are a few before and after pics. Look at this huge crane that we've had parked in our yard all day!

Thankful Thursday

  1. Wade is napping so well lately and doing great sleeping at nighttime, too! We're loving the extra sleep, and he's definitely happier now that he's sleeping so well.
  2. Cooler weather! Thank goodness it's cooled off a little bit from earlier this week.
  3. Friday off tomorrow :-) I can't wait to hang out with Wade all day long!!
  4. A great 9-month checkup for my little boy - the doctor said his growth and all his development looks awesome! 19 lbs, 13 oz and 29 3/4 inches!!

The Tides at Harbor Park

We went out to Wade's first baseball game last night! It was SO HOT, but we had a really fun time with Craig's coworkers. Harido courtesy of Dad again - and the humidity! We cooled off with some vanilla ice cream - Wade loved it.

HI!

Crawling and Climbing

So, after doing the army crawl for a while now and being pretty happy getting around that way, last night Wade crawled on hands and knees for the first time! He gets around so fast, it's amazing - turn your head for two seconds and he's clear across the room!

Wade has also discovered the joy of climbing. Our little monkey went over to see Beamer while he was in his crate last night and he started scaling the crate! He got both feet up off the ground and was hanging on to the side of the crate, trying to climb higher and higher. Yeah, we're going to find him on top of the refrigerator one of these days :-)

I can't believe our little boy will be 9 months old on Friday! He's growing up so fast!
